Last week was a very sporty week and to top it off we had the hottest weather we started our week off with athletics and we had to do so many different events therefore we have written a poem or short sentences about two different events my writing isn't a poem but a short sentences hope you enjoy

High jump
The day was calm but cold,
it started when I had nerves
running through my veins,
butterflies spinning as I jump,
Just to know that I was in the top four,
filled me with adrenaline and delighted,
Knowing I was so close to winning.

But it was harder than I thought
one finally jump made me tied with another.
And I was happy to say that I did it.

Relays
There I was waiting for the race to begin,
Bang a loud sound started the race,
Rushing down the lines made our energy sink,
faster than a  sinking ship.

Finally it was my turn,
I was so nerves as I race to the other end,
I gave it to the next person and we were leading,
but not by much.

Finally the last person turn,
She ran as fast as she could,
But bamm one went flying past her,

And then we became the second group to win.

For the last two terms we have been going to Kaikohe Intermediate School to learn how to cook and the different types of style and different types of flavor and here is my presentation of what we have made this term I have written what I have did and my reflection about it hope you enjoy.

This is my writing about a historical event I have rewritten or retell what happen why it happen and how it had occur and how it had effected some people.

Tangiwai Disaster

10:21 a disaster occurred on Christmas eve sending people overboard when a bridge collapsed after a mudflow had to happen

At 3pm the train took to rails over the time they had no clue of what was happening on the outside. By 8pm the Mt Ruapehu crater lake walls collapse sending a mudflow into whangaehu river, and at 10:15 the wall of water that contains 2 million cubes liters that reach the Tangiwai bridge and smashed it apart.

The Train crashed after it  travelled back to Auckland from Wellington.
As the first six carriages derailed into the river, and killing 151 people.
It was forcing the water to head downstream and also pick up all the boulders and sand as it travelled down stream, it smashed right into the Whangaehu bridge and swept away the railway track.  The lahar also know as a volcanic mudflow from Crater's Lake was 8 metres higher than it’s usual,

At Whangaehu River it was sent flooded when these carriages went flying down the river with plenty of people trying to help they couldn’t save those that washed away. Volunteers from around the country came to help with the recovering of all the survivors and people who were on the train, back in 1953 there was no national rescue around, Members of the New Zealand Forest Service, Ministry of Works, police, navy personnel, groups of farmers and other local volunteers worked throughout the night and day. The Waiouru Military Camp provided much-needed manpower as well as transport and shelter for survivors and those involved in the rescue mission.

This tragedy was unpredictable and very blinding to those traveling in this train. Even with the police still investigating what had happen on this day. And  to this day people still wondered why this had happened.

This week at technology we had made something so new and so delicious that it was so hard to deny I really enjoyed making this dessert and I am looking forward to the next one.

At the start of the term I made goals that I want to learn or achieve by the end of the term therefore I have picked Three highlights that I had achieve

Last week we were learning how Chromebooks are good for school therefore we have written a report writing about it.

Introduction
Using pen and paper at school is no fun for anyone, and I am here to tell you why Chromebooks are good for school learning.
Savings in the school
Page after page pen after pen, no need for that because school around Northland, have been bringing Chromebook in to school, which has saved people money for books and pen, but it also save the school why.? Paper for photocopying, and reading books has taken a lot of money out of the schools, but why do that when you can type in what you want to read or you want to research, and bamm all your question answer just like that. You can always connect to updated information every day and therefore making it easier on schools, that have problem with money.
Improve writing
Another reason Chromebooks can help you in your school learning, it helps you in maths reading writing and more, for example in writing instead of hard to read, and messy work you can type it out, with no messy words, and it will also check your work, so there is no mistake. And instead of calling the teacher over to look at your work, you can send your work to her/him, no matter where they are, and they can check your work and comment on your work, to tell if it is great. But all it require you to do is make a document or a presentation, then share ain’t that easy and for some people their books, get taken or they forget where they put it, and have to start all over again, but with Chromebooks you can log in no matter what device, and get back to where you were and ain’t that great.
Improve maths.
There are sites that are involved with maths, it is easy to access and easy to copy for work, and when you get stuck on a question you can connect to a calculator, which is able to help you in need, and no need for the teacher to growl at you for not answering the question. Therefore you won’t be sent home with homework, and well we are on the subject you can access your work at home to finish.
Conclusion
So why use pen and paper, and lose money from it when you can buy a computer to finish and connect to your work, no matter where you are and making it easy to find your work, and easy to finish your work and make sure it is correct, so I believe that schools should allow Chromebooks in school, because it so much easier to work on that includes everyone.

Last week we were happy to show Kaikohe what Tautoro school can bring when it comes to representing our tupuna at the cultural festival, we were pleased with what we have achieve by bring in the teina of Tautoro school and the tuakana of Tautoro school as one group. Therefore we have written a recount about our eventful week of entertainment. Enjoy.

Kapa haka
The day had started, nerves rushing through my body and thoughts running through my mind as we sat  down waiting for 11:45am.

Minutes flew past as we practiced for the last time, and all I could think of is how it will turn out. finally the time had come for us to get change and head off to Northland College. As we approached Northland College all I could see was a lot of cars, so much that it took up the whole car park it even filled up the whole street, and then finally we waited in the back of the stage.  We could hear people cheering and clapping, as the group before us came off then we quickly and quietly, rushed on stage ready for our performance, as the curtain open up all I could hear was go Tautoro, and instantly my nerves rushed away as I saw my family right at that moment, I was happy to be in the kapa haka group.

First song gone and I was dizzy and  grateful at the same time which was weird for me. Then second song came along and I was so happy because I liked singing this song it’s a fun song and but I also liked doing the actions.  Third song came along and I wasn’t really into singing because that song isn’t as fun as the second song but I still sang along with everyone else.  Then finally haka time.  My nephew and brother were the stars of the show. Well to me they were and I loved watching them at home and then it was time for them to shine and they did with the help of Toko the kaea and the rest of the group of boys. They were amazing. then they were finish.

Poi time the girls got them self ready as Harmony started to sing. I felt my hand shake for some odd reason but still I carried on even though I messed up a couple times. Time for the tititorea which is the stick. Now was fun because my group didn’t muck up. Finally the last song was sang, although we had finished we had two karanga  from our kuia and really they were going to make me cry and then Gerry and Whaea Chenella had started another song of thanks of our two kuia. As we moved off the stage I could see the look in my mother's eye that she was proud of me and I couldn’t be more happy.

The day was so long but it was a great day all I can say is I would loved to do it all over again no sweat.

Analyzing my writing T3

WALT: analyse my writing using the rubrics to assess and score my writing
SUCCESS CRITERIA:
I know I will be successful when I can
  • Know what level I will use
  • identify the different elements and show what they are in my writing by highlighting these examples
  • comment on what I have achieved
  • comment on my next learning

My heart started to beat faster as we approach the starting line, all I could feel is my body shaking, and my stomach spinning as I was getting ready, my body stop as I heard a big bang at the back of me, and we were off people rushing to finish and most flying past people one by one.

First lap and already I was tired one foot in front of the other, as I rushed up the hill as I got to the top I had stop, only to start running again and as I came rushing down the hill with my family by my side, my leg click as I ran faster down the hill, and I did not want to run again but with the support of my family I was off first lap down two more laps to go, it was the only thing I could think of as we made it up the hill for the second time all I could feel was my feet wanting to stop it felt like they were going to snap.

As me and my sister was racing to the end all we felt was overwhelmed as we made to the finish line one more lap to go as my sister tells me, and already people was cheering for me at the moment I was coming second, kura was coming first and really I did not want to go to ohaeawai, but when it came to my family they just carried on say “ run faster faster” so therefore me and my sister for the last time went running up the hill and down around Whaea Meri and I had the biggest stitch ever and with my leg feeling like it was going to break but around the cone I went, racing to the finish line as we passed three cone the only thing I could think of was two more cones to do.

Cone by cone as me and my sister raced to finish our last lap my sister was tired and so was I, I could feel the pain in my feet all the way through my leg but it was not long until I was finish so the last cone and I was finished yay my sister hugged me but really she choked me but I did not mind because I was finish but the one bad thing was I am off to ohaeawai and when I sat down I could see gerry coming behind me, I was happy because she was coming with me to Ohaeawai.

My day started off a mess then as soon as I saw my family I was happy But once again I was angry because my run was so long just thinking about it gave me a headache but in the end I was finish and I don’t have to do it again well so I though .

The Rio Olympics.

Rio Olympics.

An event like no other it has the world in excitement counting down the days one by one preparing their Olympians to win the 2016 Rio Olympics. And the big question everyone is wondering “ who’s going to win. “

Every country or city has a special move to win and every Olympians has been training for the last four year to finally get their chance to show out everything they have been wanting or even dreaming of, and now it’s only a few days to go. But the question I have to come back to is
“ who’s going to win. ”

There are many cities/countries that have good people supporting them every person training for the one thing they are good at, and really there is no winner because everyone is a winner, and just to make it into the Rio Olympics is a goal finished. People from New Zealand rugby sevens team will surely win us gold and maybe silver but no doubt Valerie Adams will win us gold in shot put and we will be taking it out in many more thing therefore winning gold to bring home.

There are many different sport in the Rio Olympics like Archery, Artistic gymnastic, Badminton, Beach volley ball, Athletics and more. Country like New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Brazil (Rio) will be competing to show which country/city is the best and for sure it’s going to be a real challenge. It’s going to be a long day watching people competing against each other, some will lose and most will win but there are no loser just a reminder.

Sport after sport, medal after medal, tears after tears, is all that people is thinking of. And for those competing for New Zealand good luck  and come home with gold just to show how good we are.

Technology Reflection

A Staple Rice

Nice rice

Rice it useful in many ways because it has feed us for many years and many more years to come, but why does the world use rice ? well today I will explain why it is important.

Half of the world uses rice in there food because it is low fat and high carbohydrate, it is major cereal crop that is primarily consumed by humans. Rice is easy to cook and can harvest for a long time. Rice provides you and gives you instant energy and is helpful for people with big families and is now used in many different food.

Rice is used in Fried rice, Flaked rice and many more, but how can you cook them? you can cook the rice to make it fluffy, white, brown, and many more rice is good food to eat on it’s own and it is also amazing with sugar and milk or even cream rice is used for breakfast and dessert. Jamie Oliver says that rice is a main food that is persevered in many countries and is very useful for hungry families like his but it is good food because it helps to get up and go therefore making it a successful food for the world to eat.

Rice is nutrition because it contains a lot of energy that is easily activated for the body of a human, it holds the vitamin c and b that helps your body to move quicker and for those mothers out there,  rice helps your baby to move and to keep going for hours or even days but there is a limit for your body safety, because eating too much rice will cause you body to over work and a manger sugar rush.

So just eat enough rice that won’t cause a sugar rush, but rice is a helpful food that contains a lot of protein your body needs.
