Math strategies
WALT : Is to convert these fraction to a small number by writing down the factor and the highest factor that is in both of these numbers.
18/12 = 3/2
18 = 1,18,2,9,3,6
Here are the factors and the highest is = 6
12 = 1,12,2,6,3,4
So 18 ÷ 6 = 3 and 12 ÷ 6 = 2
∴ 18/12 = 3/2
EX 1
10/20 = 2/4
10 = 1,10,2,5,
20 = 1,20,2,10,4,5
∴ 10/20 = 2/4
∴ 10/20 = 2/4
EX 2
20/24 =
20 = 1,20,2,10,4,5
24= 1,24,2,12,4,6
∴ 20/24 = 5/6By : Ruby
News article
A fire so blazing that it not under control it has taken over most of Canada and it still got firefighter trying to control it but can’t. But why because there has been just over half of the fires that was started by people but most by accident and just under half was started by lighting but how do we really know what happens ?
Already has this fire taking out 80,000 people from the oil city that is located in the Fort Mcmurray their premier Rachel Notley says “in no way is this fire under control” in this statement it has proven my point. What can we do?
Well this fire now cover the area more than 200,000 hectares and just to be clear this fire cover double the amount of Auckland city most of the area are still in the proset of being put out but for most of the building in the fire are burnt down or still being burnt down and there's nothing that the community can do. People from that community has left so they're not caught up in the fire.
I feel that i’ve learnt a lot about this news and how to put it into a news article and i think this has help me lots by never putting another in danger by my stupid action and i really feel for those that lost their family in this fire.

Duffy Saves Ruby Dad
Going back in time would be fun because we can fix our mistake, we can’t really. Well not until today when we went back in time with the Duffy Show. What's their job?
Well first the Duffy Show are not the only people that go around encouraging people to read at home, but today they were giving children like us the chance to take books home to read, ain’t that fun. The people who were involved were Tayliah,Phenix and Simon. So what did we enjoy?
Well they did not just inspire us to read but also sang with us and whipped and nae nae with us which was funny, because we watched Sonny stand up and do it. We also enjoyed participating with their performance and listening to their creative ideas. They also inspired people to perform, what is takes to be a performer, one day.
I really enjoyed how they planned out their performance and how short a time they had to practice. Amazing! It was also fun asking them questions and just learning more about them and their lives.

What’s a school without a sign
well that's exactly what our school Tautoro School has done by unveiling a new sign, we have found a new meaningful sign that represents our school. But why ?
____________________________________
___________________________________
Our old sign was expiring but it was also rotting, if we kept it up any
longer it would have been a danger to those entering our pou. Our school gives people the sense of warmth and happiness, right when they walk through our gates. Now with our new sign it does represent how our school is. It also shows our 12 waka hoe which our school values. But who had the privilege to do our sign? |
Our carver is the one and only
Eric Wihongi, he has worked really hard on our sign to produce a sign that reflects our school. Why did our principal pick him? His father also a carver, carved the first sign for Tautoro School, therefore this opportunity has been given back to him. How lucky we are.
With Eric, we also had our
kaumatua and kuia there to support, and Kohuroa our oldest child at school was given the privilege to reveal our sign with her dad Matua Mitai, blessing it. He asked us the question ‘Mo wai tenei tohu,’ ‘Mo te iwi nei,’ was our response and now we have a memory to remember. |
But what does it mean
to us ? well we weren’t just filled with pride and joy, we also felt blessed to be given such a beautiful sign that Matua Eric has done, we will honour this sign with the most courage and manaaki not just from our carver and kaumatua and kaiako but also for the future tamariki who will come to Tautoro School. |
