New school New start

The first couple of week have been different im not really into, changing class to class teacher to teacher. But it is was what it is so the first of school, we have been in our whanau classes and learning a bit more about each other, and as that first week went the real challenge started. The second week of school we have been given a timetable with the class number, and the teacher but I had no clue where I was going, but in the end I figured it out and then it was easier I knew where I was going. My favorite subject is maths but my teacher ain't so helpful, but I always seem to figure it out, then at the end of the third week, we had athletics and the whole school was split up into three groups the names were. Matai Kauri and Tautara me and my sister were in Tautara, and I wasn't so keen on doing anything but my sister encouraged me to do so, I did I ended up coming 1st in high jump shot put and 400m sprints 2nd in discus 3rd in 200m sprints and 60m sprints. I really didn't want to do sports because the weather was so hot, and I was not in the mood but I had to do it for my brother and my team. So therefore it was a great week I've learnt a lot at Northland college, and a lot more to come. Hopefully I get there in the end. But right now it is five and I have gotten to know all my teacher and the students in my classes, the term is half way over and yet it feels like it has only started. This school has given me a lot of knowledge thanks Northland college.

Last week was a very sporty week and to top it off we had the hottest weather we started our week off with athletics and we had to do so many different events therefore we have written a poem or short sentences about two different events my writing isn't a poem but a short sentences hope you enjoy

High jump
The day was calm but cold,
it started when I had nerves
running through my veins,
butterflies spinning as I jump,
Just to know that I was in the top four,
filled me with adrenaline and delighted,
Knowing I was so close to winning.

But it was harder than I thought
one finally jump made me tied with another.
And I was happy to say that I did it.

Relays
There I was waiting for the race to begin,
Bang a loud sound started the race,
Rushing down the lines made our energy sink,
faster than a  sinking ship.

Finally it was my turn,
I was so nerves as I race to the other end,
I gave it to the next person and we were leading,
but not by much.

Finally the last person turn,
She ran as fast as she could,
But bamm one went flying past her,

And then we became the second group to win.

For the last two terms we have been going to Kaikohe Intermediate School to learn how to cook and the different types of style and different types of flavor and here is my presentation of what we have made this term I have written what I have did and my reflection about it hope you enjoy.

This is my writing about a historical event I have rewritten or retell what happen why it happen and how it had occur and how it had effected some people.

Tangiwai Disaster

10:21 a disaster occurred on Christmas eve sending people overboard when a bridge collapsed after a mudflow had to happen

At 3pm the train took to rails over the time they had no clue of what was happening on the outside. By 8pm the Mt Ruapehu crater lake walls collapse sending a mudflow into whangaehu river, and at 10:15 the wall of water that contains 2 million cubes liters that reach the Tangiwai bridge and smashed it apart.

The Train crashed after it  travelled back to Auckland from Wellington.
As the first six carriages derailed into the river, and killing 151 people.
It was forcing the water to head downstream and also pick up all the boulders and sand as it travelled down stream, it smashed right into the Whangaehu bridge and swept away the railway track.  The lahar also know as a volcanic mudflow from Crater's Lake was 8 metres higher than it’s usual,

At Whangaehu River it was sent flooded when these carriages went flying down the river with plenty of people trying to help they couldn’t save those that washed away. Volunteers from around the country came to help with the recovering of all the survivors and people who were on the train, back in 1953 there was no national rescue around, Members of the New Zealand Forest Service, Ministry of Works, police, navy personnel, groups of farmers and other local volunteers worked throughout the night and day. The Waiouru Military Camp provided much-needed manpower as well as transport and shelter for survivors and those involved in the rescue mission.

This tragedy was unpredictable and very blinding to those traveling in this train. Even with the police still investigating what had happen on this day. And  to this day people still wondered why this had happened.
